About us

The Triangle Food Box

At first glance we may not look like much, but don't be fooled by our appearance.  We operate out of our local Triangle Grange, with many of our volunteers being grange members as well.  Weekly we meet to unload the food truck and stash the cache until it's time to distribute it.

Once pantry week arrives, there is a lot more to do!  We meet on the Wednesday before to set out tables and food and we make sure everything is labeled with the appropriate amount of items per family displayed before them.  This usually takes about half a day, unless we are preparing for the Summer Kids Box Program or the Holiday Meals program, when it takes a bit longer.

Thursday mornings of pantry week start early, to unload the final delivery, which includes the produce and bread, but it is usually done pretty quickly, we don't leave though, until we are sure everything is ready for our shoppers!  We have a small crew that stakes out the tables for Thursday evening shoppers.  We added this time slot so those who cannot make it during the day would still be able to shop after work.  You might be surprised how many hard working families still fall under the poverty level.

Friday morning is a flurry of activity, as we prepare for the bulk of our shoppers.  We make it a potluck for the volunteers, so none of them go hungry either, while they are helping people shop, or reloading the tables as our goods are depleted.  Finally, after every one has filled out their paperwork, been through the shopping lines and gotten packed into their vehicles, we clean up and return the Grange to it's former state.  While this may seem like a lot of work, and believe us, it is, there is also something very satisfying and heartwarming, in seeing the families we help with much needed groceries going out the door.

Above all, we strive to give those less fortunate in our community access to healthy food options, at no cost to them.  We make sure they are able to choose their own items, in a stress free, respectful environment.  If you are a family in need, or someone who is willing to help, please do not hesitate to contact us for more information.

Thank you for taking the time to check us out.

Sincerely,
